Hi! I’m Rachael.

I’m a licensed psychotherapist, a mom of three boys, and a writer. I’m also a Gen Xer, a psychology geek, and a lover of books and words. Currently, I’m learning tennis and trying to get over my fear of public speaking. If I’m not in the office or at home, you’ll find me walking the hills and mountains of Western North Carolina.

I’ve had a private psychotherapy practice for close to fifteen years and my background includes certifications in Buddhist Psychology, Classical Hatha Yoga, Traumatic Stress, and Schema Therapy. Aside from all of that, I’ve been practicing yoga and meditation for about twenty years and I, too, am on a path of growth and healing.

I’ve been featured in these articles:

I’ve been interviewed on these podcasts:

Healing the Wounds Left by the Negligent Father. In this episode, Rachael Chatham talks with us about the experience of the negligent father and general paternal abandonment, and how this particularly impacts daughters.

Relationship Trauma, How Does It Feel To Be a Client, And Boundaries. In this episode, we are talking to Rachael Chatham about being a therapist and having received therapy yourself, relationship trauma, as well as complex PTSD. We also discuss the importance of the therapeutic alliance, flexible boundaries, and how to make it all work.
