Dream wisdom is part of every experience of working with your dreams. It is the meaning that you, as the dreamer, make out of the symbols, feelings, messages and dynamics of your dreams. One way to glean your dream wisdom is through working with a Dream Question. Here I share my recent dream and how this process works:
I had a dream the other night about lionesses roaming the downtown streets where I lived.
Everyone was panicked. And rightfully so.
The lionesses could end our lives in a heartbeat.
In the dream I was told that the only way to survive a confrontation with a lioness was to make and hold eye contact with her, and to walk toward her.
Basically, I had to risk my life in the hopes that I could show her that I, too, could be fearless.
The next day, in waking life, I got devastating news.
The news came, in part, out of my own decision-making, that had been rooted in resistance and fear.
The Dream Question
In working with dreams, it’s often helpful to ask myself “what question is the dream asking?” We can take the key message in the dream “the only way to survive a confrontation with a lioness was to make and hold eye contact with her, and to walk toward her” and reframe it as a question for the dreamer, herself.
The lioness is a symbol of immense and fierce feminine power. She is strong, protective, courageous and elegant. The lioness is a huntress.
In this instance the Dream Question is “where, in my waking life, do I experience fear (of something potentially immensely powerful and innately feminine) that I need to confront?
The dream was letting me know that it’s time to face the fear and resistance and move forward in spite it.
What question are your dreams asking you?
